Clothing
A guideline on how to cherish your Itadaki clothing.
We've considered every aspect of each garment we make. That is why we want you to cherish your clothing and make it last as long as you do.
Below are general guidelines for how to make your textiles last and some reasoning behind why we've chosen these fibres for your garments.
For further information, please feel free to get in touch with us.
WEAR
Your clothes don’t need to be washed after every wear. Unless they’re stained or odorous, most garments can be worn 3 to 4 times before requiring a wash. This is partly due to our use of fibres that are suited to each style and how they’re worn.
Between washes, we recommend using a eucalyptus spray to sanitise and freshen your garments.
SPOT CLEANING
Spot cleaning is a method of garment care that targets stains by gently blotting the affected area with a cloth and water, a mild detergent, or a stain-removal agent.
This approach helps extend the life of your garments by avoiding unnecessary full washes, reducing wear on the fabric while conserving water.
WASHING
When it comes to washing, care instructions matter. We almost always recommend hand washing your garments where possible, as it is the most effective way to maintain their condition. However, when this isn’t possible, follow the care instructions provided to help maximise their lifespan.
Additionally, pay attention to the trims and construction of your garments. Pieces with ties, studs, or buttons will fare better in the washing machine if placed in a washing bag (or pillowcase), as this helps prevent them from catching or tangling during the cycle.
MENDING
Well-loved garments will naturally show signs of wear over time. To continue enjoying them for years to come, they often only require simple mending. Repairs such as reattaching buttons, reinforcing seams, or fixing small tears can easily be done at home, or with the help of a trusted tailor.
Taking the time to mend your garments is an act of mindfulness that not only extends their lifespan, but also reduces unnecessary waste. If you’re unsure how best to repair a piece, we’re always happy to offer guidance - just get in touch.
School uniform
Our school uniform colour ways are Moss, Smoke Check, Wine, Honeycomb, Bark Tartan, Navy Pinstripe and Black (in Kenji Shorts, Puff Pants and Obi Tops).
These fabrics are usually a Polyester/Viscose blend. Though these compositions are often associated with fast-fashion and lower quality clothing, our decision to use these fabrics in our signature styles is intentional.
Originally intended for school uniform, these fabrics are woven to be sturdy, durable and worn everyday - this means your garments can be worn anywhere and washed over and over again.
Due to the durability of these fabrics, these garments are a great low effort option and also serve as the perfect travel pieces!

Machine wash on cold. Dry on line in shade. Do not bleach, soak or rub. Do not tumble dry. Dry cleanable.
Ribbing
Our Kimono Tops and Multiway Muffin Top are crafted from a 97% cotton, 3% spandex rib, combining the natural comfort of cotton with the right amount of stretch to contour and move with your body.
We’ve intentionally chosen a heavier rib (315 to 415 GSM), as it offers superior structure and elastic retention - helping each piece hold its shape and stand the test of time.

Cotton Jersey
Our Kyoto Tees are made from a 220 GSM 100% cotton jersey. Chosen for its slight structure and soft feel against the skin, this fabric complements the boxy fit of our tees.
By choosing a heavier GSM, we can ensure these tops feel thicker, last longer and are fully opaque.
This fabric is dyed by our Australian supplier. As slight colour variations can occur between batches, we consistently quality check all incoming fabric.

Cotton/Linen
Our cotton/linen blend colourways - Half/Half, Sesame, and Black Pinstripe (cotton/linen/wool) - are made from 100% natural fibres and woven in Japan.
Our Japanese fabrics are produced in shorter rolls than standard, meaning we yield fewer garments per metre, which increases the cost. This is a result of the traditional, artisanal processes used by the Japanese mill we partner with, ensuring a higher quality fabric for every piece.
Additionally, our Grey Plaid in our Hiro styles are made from a dead stock cotton/linen blend sourced by our makers in Bali, Indonesia.
The natural fibre composition of these fabrics makes each garment highly breathable and comfortable to wear.

Cotton Fleece
Our Goro styles are crafted from 350 GSM unbrushed 100% cotton fleece. We’ve worked with our local Australian supplier and chosen this specific weight and finish for its durability and comfortable, high-quality feel.

Dobby Cotton
Our Wang Tops in Yin and Yang are crafted from Japanese dobby cotton. Woven on a specialised dobby loom using 100% cotton, this fabric features small, textured geometric patterns that add depth and character.
The considered weaving process results in a higher-quality fabric with enhanced durability and a more refined hand feel. Due to the specialised nature of the loom, it is meticulously produced and supplied to us in shorter rolls, resulting in a lower yield per metre of fabric.
