The great office move
We have just hit one month at our new office and so I felt it appropriate, now that I have a slither of energy to reflect on what this signifies. Moving office marks a few things, some of the most important being, one month of natural lighting, one month of the team being able to come in on the same days, one month of having your own desk and one month of cafe hopping around our beautiful new home in Marrickville.

I actually marvel at how much has changed in just four years but I remember back then it felt like such a slog. I spent many late nights and almost all-nighters preparing for market days and sewing from my single domestic sewing machine making stretchy velvet tanks and dresses in brown, blue, olive and silver in the basement of my parents house.

Somehow, not before long though, Itadaki had a team of five and we were bursting out of the seams of our petite home office. I'm not going to lie, it was hard coordinating everyone when not everyone even got a desk to sit at. There was a lot of carpet laying and desk hopping. Growing a small business is already hard as it is, and I am very grateful for having the privilege to be working from a city I was raised in and having space that my parents were willing to give up to me to grow the brand. Not to say that we wouldn’t be here without it but I am sure Itadaki would look very different right now if we hadn't had the space to grow in those very early stages.
In a space we had outrun, it was easy for growth to feel stunted or almost concealed because we didn't have the physical space to move and grow the brand in real time. Itadaki was picking up momentum and we needed somewhere to home my quickly evolving brand child.

We are now where we have always felt where we belonged, the rag trade capital of Sydney, the densest brewery populated suburb in the world, the glorious, brilliant Marrickville. With the industry at our finger tips we are just 70m from our trims guy, 230m from our guy who does all our cutting and 750m from one of our makers. There is nothing quite like being able to pick up and walk our stock straight through our doors.
I am mostly excited for everything that is to come. In a space where we can actually get creative. I am excited to hold brand events and maybe even some mini pop ups too… We definitely wont be hogging this space from our customers and I cannot wait to open our doors to you! We will also be opening up for customer try-ons very soon, so keep an ear out for that!

It has been incredibly difficult to get to this point but I have weirdly loved it all and I would do it again and again. Before we can open our doors, enjoy these office photos, I promise it is even more magical in person.
